Alumnus of the year
The Academic Award is a doctoral scholarship that is awarded every two years to a promising young PhD candidate to reward their academic merit in connection with the thesis work and/or other meritorious activities that the candidate has performed in their subject or at Åbo Akademi University.
The association’s badge of merit is available in two denominations: silver and bronze.
With the Alumnus of the Year award, Åbo Akademi University’s Alumni seeks to recognise an alumnus who, through their work, expertise, and active commitment, acts as an ambassador for Åbo Akademi University.
At the Brahe Ball, which is held every other year, the Academic Award and the association’s badge of merit are awarded.
